WINEMAKING
Our Petite Sirah comes from the Lodi growing region, an area with a Mediterranean climate and alluvial, well-draining soils. Zinfandel was sourced from the Dry Creek Valley and Russian River Valley AVAs. Grapes were picked during the cool evening and morning hours. Once at the winery, the grapes were fermented in stain-less steel at warm temperatures to maximize color and flavor extraction. Post fermentation, the wine was aged in French and American oak for four to six months.
WINEMAKER’S NOTES
Dense inky purple in color, Lucky Star offers bold aromas of ripe boysenberry and plum with hints of mocha. Dark fruit flavors carry through to the palate where they mingle with pepper spice – a gift from the addition of Zinfandel. Tannins are supple and the wine lingers on the finish. A great partner to roasted or smoked meats or serve alongside BBQ brisket or grilled sausage.
